These animals are all currently in foster care throughout Colorado and are available for adoption. Information on fees and approval process are located at the bottom of the page.
We also have dogs and cats who are waiting for a foster or foster-to-adopt in order to come to Colorado on the next transport. Some are in foster care in NM, TX or southern Colorado. In most cases, these animals have been found and never reclaimed or surrendered and they need a foster home until they find their forever home. Please check out our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/fftfrescue/ under the Dogs Needing Foster Album or Cats Needing Foster album. You might find your next best friend!

Approval Process
After filling out the application above, we will conduct a property check and a reference check. The property check consists of either checking county property records to confirm ownership or talking with your landlord. Please contact your landlord prior to applying. We do not adopt pit bulls to BSL areas or housing where they are not allowed, and we are going to check. Please do not apply for a breed you are not allowed to own where you live.
The next step is a reference check. If you currently own a dog or cat, you must list a veterinarian, or your application cannot be processed. We have minimum requirements for medical care on existing pets. Dogs must be fixed and up to date on rabies and distemper/parvo. Cats must be fixed and up to date on rabies (if applying for a cat, additional shots may be required). Exceptions for shots can be made when an animal is older and proper senior care can be established. Exceptions for spay/neuter can only be made if there is a proven medical reason why the animal cannot undergo the procedure. We are going to to call your vet, so please make sure your animals are up to date prior to applying in order to avoid any delays. We strongly recommend that your dogs be current on the heartworm prevention protocol your vet recommends for your area. Since it’s a developing issue in Colorado, we don’t deny applications if it isn’t being administered, but it’s important for you to understand the dangers of heartworm, how it is transmitted/detected, and how easily preventable it is. Ongoing heartworm prevention is something we expect for our dogs. We will also contact at least one personal reference. Do not list members of the adopting household as references. While the application only requires one personal reference, in situations where multiple applicants are vying for the same animal, the additional personal reference can help add context to your application and make it stand out from the rest of the pool.
Once your application has passed processing, and if it is selected for the dog you applied for, the next step is a home visit. Sometimes this is done in conjunction with the meet and greet, sometimes not. If done separately, the meet and greet will follow the home visit. It is possible that your home can be approved for one dog and not for another since different dogs have different needs.
The fee and the contract finish out the adoption process. Dog adoption fees are payable via cash, check, PayPal to fftfrescue@gmail.com, or Venmo to @fromforgotten-toforever. Cat adoption fees are payable via cash, check, PayPal to fftfrescuecats@gmail.com or Venmo to @FromForgottentoForeverCats.
After you apply, keep an eye on your email. Failure to timely respond to correspondence regarding your application can result in your desired dog getting adopted to someone else. If you wish to check on the status of a submitted application, please email fftfrescue@gmail.com. We do not process applications over the weekend due to the common unavailability of landlords and veterinarians.
